On Butler B(2)-groups decomposing over two base elements
A B(2)-group is a sum of a finite number of torsionfree Abelian groups of rank 1, subject to two independent linear relations. We complete here the study of direct decompositions over two base elements, determining the cases where the relations play an essential role.
متن کاملBalanced Walls for Random Groups
We study a random group G in the Gromov density model and its Cayley complex X. For density < 5 24 , we define walls in X that give rise to a nontrivial action of G on a CAT(0) cube complex. This extends a result of Ollivier and Wise, whose walls could be used only for density < 5 . The strategy employed might be potentially extended in future to all densities < 4 .

متن کاملBalanced Identity in the Minimal Groups Paradigm
Balanced Identity Theory [1] formalizes a set of relationships between group attitude, group identification, and self-esteem. While these relationships have been demonstrated for familiar and highly salient social categories, questions remain regarding the generality of the balance phenomenon and its causal versus descriptive status. Supporting the generality and rapidity of cognitive balance, ...
متن کاملButlerBot: The Robotic Butler
ButlerBot is a robotic butler created to cater to people’s questions at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) 2003 conference and to escort people to desired destinations. The three main areas of research focused on in ButlerBot, the Stony Brook Robot Design Team’s new robot created for the American Association of Artificial Intelligence's (AAAI) Robot Host compe...
